Color Tango

1989 samlade Roberto Alvarez, förste bandoneonspelare i Osvaldo Puglieses orkester, ihop musiker och skapade ”Orquesta Color Tango” . Debutkonserten hölls i Nederländerna (turné med 26 konserter).

I mars 1990 spelade orkestern in sin första CD, Color Tango, som fick ett mycket gott mottagande i Europa och Japan. I Argentina spelade orkestern i Radio Nacional (argentinska radion) och blev ”husorkester” på den statliga TV-kanalen (ATC). De uppträdde även på olika scener, bl a Municipal General San Martin, Presidente Alvear, C.C. Recoleta, Casa del Tango, Café Homero, El Mesón och många andra.

1992 deltog Color Tango i en galaföreställning på Expo Seville, tillsammans med andra kända argentinska artister som Julio Bocca, Eleonora Cassano och Alberto Cortés.

I mars 1993 återvände de till Europa för en turné runt Italien och Nederländerna. I september, återigen, i Italien deltog orkestern i två festivaler, ”Musical September”, på Teatro Reggio i Torino, och ”South American Musical Festival of Portofino”.

I mars 1994 var de återigen i Italien för en tredje turné. Denna gång besökte de Genoa, Bologna och Milano med sin show, ”Tangueros”. Samma år i Argentina blev de nominerade i klassen "Tango Instrumental" av Asociación de Cronistas de Espectaculos för sin CD ”Color Tango a Toda Orquesta”.

I mars 1995 var orkestern i Europa för en turné till 11 italienska städer och ett framträdande i Paris. I juni turnerade de i São Pauloprovinsen in Brasilien med den mycket uppskattade föreställningen, ”Una noche en Buenos Aires”, tillsammans med sångaren Eduardo Espinoza. I slutet av oktober besökte de Norge och Sverige för att delta i festivalen ”Verden y Norden” (Oslo). De uppträdde även i Stockholm, Uppsala och Sala med sin show ”Con Este Tango”, tillsammans med tangodansarna Claudia Códega och Esteban Moreno. I december samma år spelade de in en ny CD som ingick i samlingen ”Timeless Tango” (skivbolaget Forever Music, Miami).

I mars 1996 reste orkestern till Italien med sin show ”Tangueros” och hade premiär för sin nya föreställning ”Milonga Boulevard”, som baserats på boken ”Las puertas del cielo” (Himlens portar) av författaren Julio Cortazar. I föreställningen medverkade dansarna Pepito Avellaneda och Suzuki, Teté och Maria, Alejandro Aquino och Mariachiara Michieli. I juni samma år var orkestern inbjuden till Japan med de kända tangodansarna Juan Carlos Copes och Maria Nieves, Elsa Maria, Nélida och Nelson, och Carlos Rivarola. I oktober uppträdde de på olika platser i Nederländerna och Belgien tillsammans med sångaren Abel Córdoba.

I februari och augusti 1997 besöktes 20 städer i Italien, innan de återvände till Buenos Aires för konserter på historiska scener som La Ideal och Torquato Tasso Centro Cultural.

1998 kom en ny CD, ”Color Tango...Con Estilo”, och i februari tog de sin föreställning ”Milonga Boulevard” till New York.

I mars 1999 var det åter dags för en turné i Nederländerna (11 städer), tillsammans med dansarna Ricardo och Nicole och sångarna Daniel Cortés och Viviana Vigil. De uppträdde i Schweiz i juli på festivalen ”Tango Stadt Zürich” tillsammans med Quintet Real och Rodolfo Mederos.

2000, vid millennieskiftet började de arbeta på nya musikaliska arrangemang, och i april kom deras nya CD, ”Con Estilo para Bailar – Vol. 2” med Leopoldo Federico som gästartist. De deltog även aktivt i den internationella tangofestivalen i Buenos Aires.

I mars 2001 färdigställdes två CD i Berlin av Oriente Musik och gavs ut som en dubbel-CD. I april rönte de stor uppskattning för sin turné i Schweiz, tyskland och Turkiet. I juli besökte de Los Angeles (USA) för en konsert i samband med festivalen ”Tango Fireworks 2001” och ackompanjerades av dansarna Milena Plebs och Julio Balmaceda. I december for de vidare på sitt fjärde besök till Nederländerna, där de deltog i ”Tangomagia 2001”.

I juli 2002 besökte Color Tango Dallas (USA) på inbjudan av City Hall, och passade även på att delta i ”Tango Fireworks 2002” i Los Angeles. I oktober höll de en konsert i Montevideo för att hedra Osvaldo Pugliese, tillsammans med Lidia Pugliese (mästarens livskamrat) och sångaren Abel Córdoba. De deltog även i ”World Tango Festival” i Buenos Aires, där deras konsert utgjorde huvudnumret. I december for de till Amsterdam, vidare till Stockholm, Köpenhamn och fem städer i Italien med ”Tangomagia 2002”. Denna stora turné hedrade minnet av mästaren Osvaldo Pugliese.

I mars 2003 deltog orkestern i Buenos Aires’ Internationella Tangofestival, där de lärde ut ”Pugliese-stilen” på Centro Cultural San Martin Sala AB. De var avslutningsnummer på festivalen ”Gran Milonga Calle Corrientes” och uppträdde vid öppnandet och avslutandet av den internationella festivalen ”CITA 2003”. De deltog även i liveinspelningar för radiostationen Radio 2x4 och ställde upp på en välgörenhetsgala på Luna Park Stadium. I juli reste de till USA och Kanada för att spela i Dallas, Los Angeles (Tango Fireworks Festival 2003) och Montreal (International Tango Festival). I slutet av juli for de vidare till Zürich där de deltog i ”Zurcher Tangowoche” med ett seminarium och två konserter varav den ena var festivalens avslutningsföreställning. I augusti och september presenterade de en mycket uppskattad CD, ”Tango a Pugliese” på CCT Tasso. I oktober uppträdde de på ”World Tango Festival” i Buenos Aires och i november reste de till Europa för en konsertserie i Saarbrücken, München, Karlsruhe, Düsseldorf, Wien, Turin, Basel och Arnheim. Under turnén höll de även ett seminarium, ”The History of Tango” i varje stad de besökte och presenterade sin nya CD med seminarieprogrammet, ”A History of Tango”. I december besökte de Montevideo i Uruguay där de deltog i ”II Tango Seminar”, som arrangerats av Universidad de la República. I Buenos Aires höll de en konsert till minne av Osvaldo Pugliese på CC de la Cooperación, där en byst av Pugliese avtäcktes av Puglieses hustru vid tillfället.

I februari 2004 spelade de på diverse milongor och reste till Rio Negro-provinsen i södra Argentina för en konsert i Gral. Roca. I mars deltog de i VI Festival of Buenos Aires, med premiären på ”Corazoneando”, en föreställning med text och koreografi som speglar Puglieses stil och tankar kring tango nuevo. Texterna lästes av Roberto Alvarez och skådespelaren Franklin Caicedo, sjöngs av Abel Córdoba och Julio Valmaceda, och dansare var Corina de la Rosa. De deltog återigen i CITA (Cosmotango) med öppnings- och avslutningskonserter på Palacio San Miguel. I april åkte de på turné till München, Berlin, Chemnitz, Padua, Cesena, Torino (Torino Tango Festival) och Köpenhamn.

In 1989 Roberto Alvarez, first bandoneon of Osvaldo Pugliese's orchestra,creates  together with other musicians  "Orquesta Color Tango". Their debut takes place in Holland (a tour of 26 concerts).

In march 1990 the orchestra records its first CD "ColorTango" which is very well received in different European countries and Japan .  In Argentina they perform in Radio Nacional (National Radio) and become the stable orchestra of the state television channel (A.T.C).  They also perform in  theatres such as: Municipal General San Martin, Presidente  Alvear, C.C. Recoleta, Casa del Tango, Café Tortoni, Café Homero, El Mesón and many others.

In 1992 the orchestra takes part of the gala performance in Expo- Seville together with other notable argentine artists including Julio Bocca, Eleonora Cassano and Alberto Cortés.

In March 1993, they return to Europe touring Italy and The Netherlands. Once again in Italy , during the month of September, they participate in the festival "Musical September" in the Teatro Reggio, Torino and the "South American Musical Festival of Portofino".

March 1994 finds them on their third tour around Italy ( Genoa , Bologna , Milan ) with their show "Tangueros". That year, in Argentina , they are nominated by the Asociación de Cronistas de Espectaculos for their CD "Color Tango a Toda Orquesta".

In March 1995 they return to Italy , this  time touring to 11 cities and adding Paris.  In June they tour in the State of Sao Paulo, Brazil with the very successful show "Una noche en Buenos Aires " together with singer Eduardo Espinoza.  End of October, they arrive to Norway and Sweden to take part in the "Verden y Norden" festival ( Oslo ). In Sweden they perform in Stockholm , Uppsala and Sala with the show "Con Este Tango" and the tango dancers Claudia Códega and Esteban Moreno. In December 1995 they record a new CD for the collection "Timeless Tango" (recording label Forever Music, in Miami ).

In March 1996 the orchestra takes "Tangueros" to Italy and open a new show called "Milonga Boulevard" based on the story "Las puertas del cielo" (Heavens doors) by writer Julio Cortazar.  This last show included tango dancers : Pepito Avellaneda, Suzuki, Teté,Maria, Alejandro Aquino and Mariachiara Michieli.  June of that same year takes them to Japan with famous tango dancers  Juan Carlos Copes and Maria Nieves, Elsa Maria, Nélida and Nelson  and Carlos Rivarola.  In October , they perform  in different cities  around Holland   and Belgium together with singer Abel Córdoba.

During February and August 1997  it will be Italy (20 cities) and back in Buenos Aires they will perform in historical places such as La Ideal and Torquato Tasso Cultural Centre.

In 1998 a new CD, "Color Tango...Con Estilo" and in February, they travel to New York with their show " Milonga Boulevard ".

In March 1999 , 11 shows in Holland with dancers Ricardo and Nicole and singers Daniel Cortés and Viviana Vigil. They perform in Switzerland during the month of July in the festival "Tango Stadt Zurich" together with Quintet Real and Rodolfo Mederos.

In 2000 , with the turn of the century, they start working on new musical arrangements and in April they present their new CD "Con Estilo Para Bailar- Vol 2" with Leopoldo Federico as guest. They have an active participation in the International Tango Festival in Buenos Aires .

In March 2001 their two last CDs are edited in Berlin by Oriente Musik music label in a double CD format. In April, they tour in Switzerland , Germany and Turkey with great success. In July they travel to Los Angeles ( USA ) to perform at the "Tango Fireworks 2001" festival accompanied by  dancers Milena Plebs and Julio Balmaceda and in December they travel to Holland , their fourth visit to this country, to play in "Tangomagia 2001".

In July 2002 , they visit Dallas (USA) invited by the City Hall and they also work in Los Angeles ("Tango Fireworks 2002").  In October they perform in honour of Maestro Osvaldo Pugliese in Montevideo together with Lidia Pugliese (the Maestro's life partner) and singer Abel Córdoba.  They participate in "World Tango Festival" in Buenos Aires becoming one of tha principal attractions. December takes them to Amsterdam : "Tangomagia 2002", Stockholm , Copenhagen and five cities in Italy . In this extensive tour they pay homage to Maestro Osvaldo Pugliese.

During March 2003 , they participate in the "International Tango Festival of Buenos Aires", teaching the "Pugliese style" at the Centro Cultural San Martin Sala AB.  They close the festival at the "Gran Milonga de la Calle Corrientes ".  They perform during the opening and closing ceremony of the international festival "CITA 2003". They also take part in the live recording of radio station Radio 2x4 and play in a charity event at the Luna Park Stadium. They travel to USA and Canada in July to play in Dallas , LA ( TangoFireworks Festival 2003)  and "International Tango Festival in Montreal ".  Towards the end of that  month they travel to Zurich and take part of the tango festival "Zurcher Tangowoche", there they conduct a seminar and two concerts, one of them during the closing ceremony  of the festival.  During August and September they present their very successful  CD called "Tango a Pugliese" at the C.C. T. Tasso. In October they  perform in the "World Tango Festival" taking place in Buenos Aires and in November they travel  to Europe for a series of concerts in Saarbrucken , Munich , Karlsruhe , Dusseldorf , Vienna , Turin , Milan , Basel and Arnhem . During this tour they conduct the seminar "The History of Tango" in all these cities and they present their new CD with the contents of the seminar called "A History of Tango". During December they travel to Montevideo, Uruguay to take part in the II Tango Seminar organised by the Universidad de la República.  In Buenos Aires they perform a homage for Osvaldo Pugliese at the C.C. de la Cooperación where a bust is uncovered by Pugliese's wife.

In February 2004 they take up their activities performing at the typical milongas and they travel to the south of the country, province of Rio Negro to perform in the city of Gral . Roca .  In March they participate in the VI Festival of Buenos Aires Tango presenting "Corazoneando" a musical show with text and choreography reflecting the style and thought of Maestro Pugliese in now a day tango. The texts are narrated by Roberto Alvarez and actor Franklin Caicedo, sung by Abel Córdoba and Julio Balmaceda together with Corina de la Rosa dance.  Once again they take part in CITA (Cosmotango) performing during the opening and closing ceremony of the festival wich took place in Palacio San Miguel. In April they carry out a new tour of concerts for Europe , visiting Munich, Berlin, Chemnitz, Padova, Cesena, Torino (Torino Tango Festival) and Copenhagen .
